MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Audio Logic Systems, in partnership with the esteemed Guthrie Theater and supported by d&b audiotechnik, proudly announces the successful installation of a new Compact Cardioid Line Array (CCL) system on the McGuire Proscenium Stage in downtown Minneapolis. This significant upgrade replaces an aging system and marks the culmination of a decade-long relationship and project vision.

The McGuire Proscenium Stage, a 700-seat venue within the Guthrie’s facility that opened in 2006, now features a state-of-the-art LCR (Left-Center-Right) CCL rig. The system specification includes:

  • Main Line Array: (22) d&b CCL8 and (11) d&b CCL12 loudspeakers.
  • Subwoofers: (5) CCL-Sub and (1) SL-G Sub for low-frequency extension.
  • Fills and Surrounds: (9) 4S speakers for front fill, (10) E12 for side fills, (8) E8 speakers, (4) 44S for the second balcony, and (20) 5S units for side and rear surround sound.
  • Amplification: The system is powered by a variety of d&b amplifiers, including (10) 40D, (4) 25D, (1) D90, (4) 10D, and (8) 5D dedicated to the lobby.

John Markiewicz, owner of Audio Logic Systems, highlighted the suitability of the chosen technology, stating, “d&b and CCL were the perfect solution for this venue due to their broadband pattern control, power-to-weight ratio, and size with amazing clarity of sound for the theatre.” This clarity and control are paramount in theatrical environments, ensuring an intimate and uniform listening experience for every patron.

The project further solidifies d&b audiotechnik’s presence in the Twin Cities, with this installation joining existing d&b systems at other major Minneapolis venues, including the Pantages and State Theatres, and the Guthrie’s own Dowling Studio, which is equipped with d&b E-Series speakers.

The audio upgrade at the Guthrie Theatre ensures the venue meets technical rider requirements and the rigorous demands of today’s touring artists and productions. Theatre patrons will continue to enjoy world-class productions and performances.

Speaking on the 17-year relationship with the Guthrie, Markiewicz noted, “We love working and collaborating with their staff. Our first system proposed to them was a d&b Q1 line array.” The ultimate success of the CCL installation was attributed to the collaborative effort between the Audio Logic Systems team and the Guthrie Theatre’s knowledgeable in-house staff.

Markiewicz anticipates that audience members will notice the system’s remarkable transparency, resulting in a natural and neutral sound quality. The goal of the upgrade is to make the sound system virtually invisible, allowing the artistic performance to take center stage.—–
